Buds International School Phuket
Buds International School Phuket is the oldest established child care facility in Phuket. At Buds we offer a curriculum from nursery through to primary levels. This boutique school in Chalong, Phuket is now located in a brand new facility designed specifically to care for and teach your children. We cater to children between the ages of 18 months and 11 years and we are open Monday to Friday from 8:00 am to 3:30 pm. Extra English and Thai classes from 3:00 to 4:00 pm and aftercare to 5 pm is also available.
Emphasis is placed on teaching your children how to get along and communicate with children of their own age from different cultural backgrounds; as well as to teach your child to communicate with the adults on the staff. The playing of games in a group, sing-a-longs, the sharing of toys, and other activities are all designed to help develop your child's social skills at a young age. As the children progress and get older we begin to introduce core subjects such as English, math, science and social studies in order to prepare them for secondary education. At the same time of course we try very hard to make your child's stay at Buds Phuket a happy and fulfilling experience. Children having fun are learning without realizing they are being taught.
We are conveniently located on the main road from Chalong Circle to Phuket Town just 1.2 kilometres North of the Chalong Circle. Coming from Chalong we will be on your right. Our new school is opposite and 100 meters past the Wine Connection. Transportation in new school busses with Western safety seats is available. We welcome all prospective parents to come visit us between 9:30 am and 2:00 pm and see the school in operation. We have a very low ratio of children to staff to children. This insures that your child is always supervised and encouraged.
Our classes are limited to 14 children per teacher again to maximize the child's learning experience and to insure your children's safety we maintain at least a 3.5 to 1 pupil to staff ratio. All of our staff truly love children and we all enjoy working with them, especially as we see the children learn, grow and develop into more accomplished individuals. All of our Thai teachers speak English and both they and the school are licensed by Phuket province. Our "Farang" teachers all are native English speakers and have college degrees.
We are licensed and regulated by the Thailand Ministry of Education and have won awards for excellence from them.
News, Events and Field Trips:
The second semester of our 2014 school year started on the 1st of May after a week break during Songkran Festival. All of our students enjoyed field trip days to many different locations throughout our first week back at school. Our nursery as well as our K1 and K2 classes both enjoyed fun filled days of underwater exploration at the Phuket Aquarium, where they were mesmerized by the variety and size of the fish. Our K3 and Primary School classes were the most active; starting the day off with a tour of Wat Chalong, followed by a relaxing beachfront buffet for lunch in Panwa. After eating and some time spent walking along the beach, the students went to a local playground that had some new and exciting amenities for them to play on.
Primary School Curriculum:
We have made a major change and upgrade to our primary school curriculum. We have adopted the internationally top rated, “Common Core Curriculum Standards,” and have been using the modern textbooks that have been specifically developed for this standard. This has enabled us to provide a clear and consistent curriculum throughout the entire school at BUDS to ensure that all of our students are learning and progressing at a standardized rate that is recognized as being elite on an international level.
We continue to offer swimming classes to all our students in the Kindergarten and Primary School. Since Phuket is an island and the culture is very aquatically based, we believe that teaching our children about water safety and progressing their ability to swim is very valuable and important. These lessons also help introduce our students into the world of sports which helps lay the foundation for a healthy and active lifestyle in the future.
